Anti-Trump Arizona Senator Paul Boyer, who is currently blocking contempt charges for Maricopa County, has been repeatedly photographed with alleged child predator Tony Navarrete, who resigned as State Senator on Tuesday.
Democrat Tony Navarrete resigned as an Arizona State Senator on Tuesday, following his arrest last week for child molestation. Senate President Karen Fann and Democrat Senate Leader Rebecca Rios announced his resignation in a joint statement, saying that it was the “right thing to do” giving the serious nature of the allegations. “We know that the Arizona Judicial Branch will deliver justice and pray for healing and support for all victims,” the statement read.
As National File reported, the Arizona Senator was arrested on Thursday, and charged with the sexual abuse and molestation of two teenage brothers. The State Senator first appeared in court on Friday afternoon, with police recommending 7 felony charges against him, including three counts of sexual conduct with a minor under 15, one count of molestation of a child, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor over 15, and one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor:
Documents from the Superior Court of Maricopa County detail the allegations against him. One of the victims claims that Navarrete touched him and “performed sex acts” on him in at least five separate occasions from the ages of 12 or 13 up until he was 15 years old. In the first incident, police say Navarrete put his hand down the pants of one of the victims, and also reportedly touched his brother’s leg, who hit Navarrete’s hand away to defend himself. Phoenix Police now claim that following an interview with the victims, they got one of the boys to call Navarrete, and have the audio of the call as evidence.
Multiple photos have now emerged of Navarrete together with fellow State Senator Paul Boyer, the most prominent anti-Trump Republican within the legislature. It is unclear over what period of time the photos would have been taken, although both Boyer and Navarrete joined the State Senate at the same time in January 2019. Boyer said last week that Navarrete should resign following his arrest, but has not made any comment regarding his relationship with the former State Senator.

Boyer came to prominence within national conservative circles in recent weeks, when it he became the sole Republican voting against the contempt resolution for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. Fann expressed her frustration at Boyer last month in an interview with JT Harris, saying he has “gone over to the dark side.” Fann seemingly agreed with President Trump’s assessment of the situation, who slammed Boyer for “doing everything in his power to hold up the damning Forensic Audit of Maricopa County which has been taking place over the last 90 days, saying he has been “nothing but trouble.”
Without Boyer’s vote for the resolution of contempt in the then 16-14 split Senate, it was practically impossible for Fann to be able to issue warrants to the Maricopa Board of Supervisors, something she described as being “extremely frustrating.” If at any point those warrants were able to be issued, then the Board of Supervisors could be compelled to answer questions to the Senate, or immediately bring certain material. It is unclear if now, with Navarrete’s resignation, whether the Arizona Senate has been miraculously provided with the numbers needed to bring these warrants or not.
