ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY: New COVID-19 Pseudo-Science Policies Discriminate Against Unvaccinated Students

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY: New COVID-19 Pseudo-Science
Policies Discriminate Against Unvaccinated Students 1

On June 14th, The ASU Dean of Students sent a letter to all students regarding their new guidelines, which require students to be vaccinated if they want to be free.

Vice President of Student Services Dr. Joanne Vogel begins the email welcoming students back in fall 2021, but the real purpose of the email was to remind everyone of their “expectation” that all students participating in on-campus learning are vaccinated. “Students are expected to be vaccinated two weeks prior to the first day of classes”.

Not asked. Expected.

She then writes, “Students who are unable to be vaccinated for any reason or who do not agree to share their vaccination status will be required to participate in ongoing COVID-19 health management protocols.”, and begins to list the requirements of these second-class citizens, along with the privileges of vaccinated elites.

Unvaccinated students or those who do not share their status will be required to:

  • Submit a daily health check
  • Participate in twice-weekly to COVID-19 testing
  • Wear face covers in all indoor and outdoor spaces on ASU campuses

Fully vaccinated students who consent to share their status will not be required to:

  • Submit a daily health check
  • Participate in COVID-19 testing
  • Wear face coverings indoors or outdoors, unless otherwise directed

SERIOUSLY!? Unvaccinated students or those who want to keep their health information private must wear face covers in all indoor and outdoor spaces on ASU campuses, submit a daily health check and get a covid test twice weekly while the vaccinated enjoy their rights and freedoms.

What happens if you test positive? Do they lock you away? Do they kick you off campus?

Why don’t the vaccinated take COVID tests? In May, The CDC found that “A total of 10,262 SARS-CoV-2 vaccine breakthrough infections had been reported from 46 U.S. states and territories as of April 30, 2021.”.

FOX reported on Sunday, “A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Pfizer and Moderna are about 90% effective against infection once two weeks after the last dose have passed. The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is about 72% effective against moderate to severe disease, according to U.S. trials.”

Not only does this discriminate against those who choose not to share private info or choose not to take this vaccine, which is possibly killing people, but this segregates students. With one group required to wear something, much like former regimes, it is a clear indication of your vaccination status.

Additionally, this is a violation of one’s privacy.

Those who worship pseudo-Science are ostracizing the rest of the population who believe in medical freedom and privacy.

Masks outdoors? Is that even science?

Dear Students:

We are so excited to have you join us for the fall 2021 semester.

As previously communicated on Feb. 15, we are returning to Learning Mode 1 for the fall semester, in which instruction is delivered to students by faculty in person. With the increase in vaccinations and the decline of positive COVID-19 cases, we are resuming pre-pandemic operations and are looking forward to providing you with a full campus experience that will not only include in-person classes but also in-person learning opportunities, extracurricular activities and support.

As we continue preparations for fall 2021, we are writing to remind you of the university’s expectation that all students enrolled in an on-campus academic program for 2021-22 will be vaccinated.

COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States and in other countries are highly effective at preventing COVID-19 infection and reducing the spread of the virus. The vaccine is the greatest tool available to mitigate COVID-19 and its negative health outcomes, including death, and we believe it is imperative for the health and well-being of our community for all to be vaccinated.

The vaccine is currently widely available throughout the US. Students are expected to be fully vaccinated two weeks prior to the first day of classes, August 19. Vaccine appointments are also available through the ASU Health Center.

Once vaccinated, students should upload proof of vaccination to their ASU Health Portal. ASU will accept all COVID-19 vaccines that are approved by the World Health Organization or a national regulatory agency. Students who are unable to be vaccinated for any reason or who do not agree to share their vaccination status will be required to participate in ongoing COVID-19 health management protocols.

Unvaccinated students or those who do not share their status will be required to:

  • Submit a daily health check
  • Participate in twice weekly COVID-19 testing
  • Wear face covers in all indoor and outdoor spaces on ASU campuses
Fully vaccinated students who consent to share their status will not be required to:
  • Submit a daily health check
  • Participate in COVID-19 testing
  • Wear face coverings indoors or outdoors, unless otherwise directed

Any student may continue to wear face covers if they wish, and everyone is encouraged to wear face covers in crowded areas and venues.

If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, you can visit this informational page or contact ASU Health Services at 480-965-3349 or [email protected].

As Sun Devils, we commit to being part of the ASU Community of Care where we take care of ourselves, each other and our community. Managing COVID-19 is both a matter of personal responsibility and public health, and we ask that you follow all protocols as they apply to our collective well-being. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, all health protocols are subject to change so please continue to monitor your university e-mail and coronavirus.asu.edu for updates.

Thank you for commitment to the ASU Community and for doing your part to keep yourself and your fellow Sun Devils healthy.

Sincerely,
