‘Vitally Important’ To Resettle Afghan Refugees In Georgia 1

Republican Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp declared on Tuesday that it is “vitally important” to keep Afghan refugees safe following the Taliban takeover of the country this week, adding  that “we as Americans cannot break our word to those who lent aid to us in our mission to defend freedom and bring justice to those who attacked our country on September 11.”

“Joe Biden’s failure to protect American citizens and our allies in Afghanistan is a stain on our nation,” Kemp said in a statement. “His administration’s lack of preparation and disastrous evacuation is now putting countless lives in serious danger from the Taliban. It is vitally important to keep those who partnered with American armed forces over the last 20 years safe from harm. Joe Biden has broken his word to the nation, the Afghans, and the world, but we as Americans cannot break our word to those who lent aid to us in our mission to defend freedom and bring justice to those who attacked our country on September 11.”

Kemp is the latest in a string of prominent Republicans to call for the resettlement of refugees from Afghanistan in the United States, including the governors of Maryland, Massachusetts, Utah, and South Carolina, as well as former president Donald Trump.

The embattled governor recently drew the ire of grassroots Republicans for appointing an anti-Trump judge to the Georgia Court of Appeals:

Speaking to National File, Atlanta Tea Party icon Debbie Dooley slammed Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for betraying President Donald Trump and his supporters for his latest anti-Trump endorsements and appointments. “Georgia Governor Brian Kemp continues to betray Donald Trump and grassroots Trump supporters that are fighting to uncover the lengths the Democrats went to steal the election and make them be held accountable. Brian Kemp endorsed Chris Carr,” Dooley said. “Kemp just appointed Andrew Pinson, a close confidant of Trump betrayer Attorney General Chris Carr to the Georgia Court of Appeals. Pinson serves as Carr’s Solicitor General.”

Kemp has also been criticized for not taking action against employers that fire workers for not taking the COVID vaccine.
