Pro-Trump activists and leaders in Michigan are attempting to get the state GOP to hold a vote on censuring two members of Congress who voted to impeach Donald Trump earlier this year.

Reps. Peter Meijer (MI-03) and Fred Upton (MI-06) were two of the 10 GOP House members who voted in favor of Trump’s second impeachment, which followed the infamous incident at the US Capitol on January 6.

Big League Politics has learned that some party leaders and constituents are pressuring the state committee to formally introduce a resolution that condemns the impeachment votes of Meijer and Upton.

Fred Upton and Peter Meijer, who both campaigned on supporting the President and his agenda, need to face the consequences of their actions,” said one anonymous committee member. “That is why I am pushing the Michigan State Republican Party to condemn their actions instead of disenfranchising thousands of Trump voters.”

The anonymous committee member added that the state committee itself is divided on the issue, making this a classic battle between the grassroots and the establishment.

Many committee members have told me that we shouldn’t formally condemn Peter Meijer and Fred Upton because Republicans should not attack other Republicans. What that really means is that it’s okay for them to attack President Trump by impeaching and condemning him, but not okay for us to attack the Republican establishment,” the committee member said.

Dozens of county and district GOPs throughout the state of Michigan have already passed their own resolutions condemning the impeachment votes of Meijer and/or Upton—though many of them would like to see this reinforced at the state level.

Republican lawmakers in Lansing sat idly by and allowed Democrats to run the clock out after election day,” reads a document obtained by Big League Politics. “They did not subpoena any of the thugs who systematically violated the rights of conservative poll challengers in Detroit at the TCF Center. They didn’t even subpoena security camera footage of the TCF center or ballot drop boxes.”

The document adds that “while the party leadership wants to sweep this under the rug so we can ‘move forward,’ the grassroots is not willing to let any of this go. They believe that no election will ever have legitimacy ever again, and no Republican will ever be worth voting for, unless there is reform and that begins with accountability and retribution.”

Gateway Pundit has posted the names, emails, and phone numbers of the committee members who either oppose censuring Meijer and Upton or are still undecided. Click here for that information.
