House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is set to release framework to counter Big Tech conservative censorship. In a letter to House Republicans on Sunday, the Republican lawmaker said his plan aims to prevent tech giants from discriminating against Americans based on political affiliation. It would also allow users to sue Big Tech for blocking their First Amendment rights.

At a hearing last week, GOP Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who also signed the letter, said Democrats are making it easier for Big Tech to keep this up. He pointed out that Iran’s Ayatollah is allowed to freely tweet and post online, yet Democrats claim social media platforms “have a right” to ban the 45th U.S. president.
“Mr. chairman (Jerry Nadler) said that it’s a right-wing conspiracy theory and a fantasy dreamed up by some conservatives,” Jordan stated. “Maybe that’s because he hasn’t been shadowbanned that congressman (Matt) Gaetz has or congressman (Devin) Nunes.”
McCarthy has called for accountability and said conservatives have been targeted for too log. The new framework is slated to be released this week.
