Following Cringe ‘Make Them Pay’ Video Threat 1

Michigan House leaders have stripped State Rep. Cynthia Johnson of her assignments on all House committees after her threatening remarks toward Trump supporters in a Facebook post went viral this week. Johnson had  given vague orders to “soldiers” to “Do it right, be in order, make them pay,” in reference to Trump supporters.

Johnson, 62, was stripped of her post as the top Democrat on the Michigan House Oversight Committee, as well as her seats on the Agriculture Committee and Families, Children, and Seniors Committee Wednesday afternoon by Republican House leaders.

“Rep. Johnson has been removed from her committee assignments, and we are looking into further disciplinary action as the proper authorities conduct their own investigations,” a statement from House leadership said, adding that Johnson’s threats were “unbecoming of an elected official.”

Johnson had issued a warning to “you Trumpers” to “be careful” and “walk lightly,” because “we ain’t playing with you.” She encouraged her supporters to “hit their asses” before couching with the statement “in the pocketbook,” and issued vague orders “for those of you who are soldiers: You know how to do it. Do it right. Be in order. Make them pay.”

Johnson has tried to proclaim herself a victim of “racism,” citing angry phone calls from constituents who were upset at her partisan antics during December’s hearing on election fraud.

The impact Johnson’s unceremonious and involuntary exit from her committee posts will have on future Michigan policy decisions is likely to be negligible, considering her only substantive policy proposal is a resolution to declare December 1 “China Day” and December 1-7 “China Heritage Week.”

Johnson has yet to make a public statement on her removal from her coveted committee posts.
