Wadi Yakhour, a Navy veteran who became chief of staff for the Selective Service System during Donald Trump’s presidency, has announced his campaign to unseat Jaime Herrera Beutler, who represents Washington’s third district and voted to impeach Trump earlier this year.

Yakhour announced his candidacy Tuesday through a press release obtained by Big League Politics.

For the last four years, I have watched self-serving politicians fight only for themselves and the powerful special interests who control them, instead of the voters who put them in office,” said Yakhour. “It is high-time our district and great Country have representatives who steadfastly stand up for their values.”

One day, Jaime Herrera Beutler will make a great Biden Administration appointee, CNN contributor, or Lincoln Project Board Member—but she certainly no longer has a place representing the Republican party for Washington’s third district, and I am running to help her make that career change.”

Yakhour served in the Navy as an Aviation Warfare Systems Operator. He was deployed multiple times to places like the Gulf Coast, South China Sea, and South America. He is a recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal.

While a full-time student at Washington State University Yakhour began volunteering for the Trump campaign seven days a week in 2016, rising through the ranks to become the Western region’s communications director.

Following Trump’s victory he became a presidential appointee in the Trump administration, serving as a special assistant to the Secretary at the US Department of the Interior and chief of staff for the Selective Service System.

Big League Politics has also reported on the candidacy of America First candidate Mike Billand, who is looking to unseat Dan “McCain 2.0” Crenshaw:

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has been pushed relentlessly by the Republican Party establishment as a new leader, with his support for climate change policyred flag laws and endless wars making him an ideal standard bearer for globalism.

However, America First patriot Mike Billand is hoping to end Crenshaw’s political career before he can co-opt MAGA and return the Republican Party to the Bush-era doldrums. He spoke to Media Right News about his nascent candidacy.

Billand is described in the profile as “a blue-collar American who works hard and doesn’t plan to be beholden to ideologies backed by large corporations and special interest groups that plague both parties.”

Yakhour’s decision to run is part of a growing trend of pro-Trump conservatives seeking to primary establishment Republicans who turned their backs on the former president. He isn’t the first to announce such a campaign and surely won’t be the last.
