If Democratic candidates up for election in state and local races want to have any chance at winning their races, they should steer clear of President Joe Biden’s endorsement.
According to a new Rasmussen Reports survey, more than half of U.S. voters said recently that they would be less likely to vote for a candidate in their state if that candidate were endorsed by the sitting president.
In fact, Biden’s endorsement would be much less valuable in a state or local election than would be an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, especially with independent voters.
The shocking poll indicates that Biden’s rapidly sinking popularity has now become a political liability for the Democratic Party as a whole and could prove to be a major factor in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.
The survey — which was conducted between Nov. 4 and Nov. 7 and interviewed 1,000 likely U.S. voters — found that just 27% of respondents reported being more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Biden, while 51% reported being less likely to vote for such a candidate.
Comparatively, 38% of respondents reported that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump, while 39% of respondents said they would be less likely.
Even among Democratic voters, only 50% reported that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate in their state endorsed by Biden. The surprising response indicates that half of the Democratic Party’s voters have soured on their top representative.
The survey’s results as it pertained to hotly sought-after independent voters showcased even worse news for Biden, as more than two times as many said that a Trump endorsement would be more valuable.
“Among voters not affiliated with either major party, only 14% say a Biden endorsement would make them more likely to vote for a candidate in their state, while 32% would be more likely to vote for a Trump-endorsed candidate,” Rasmussen reported.
As TheBlaze has previously reported, the president has been hemorrhaging approval since August following his administration’s bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan and so far he has been unable to course-correct.
A survey conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University last week found that Biden’s approval rating had sunk to just 38%, while his disapproval rating had shot up to 59%. The poll also found that a whopping two-thirds of independents disapproved of his job performance.
However, when confronted with the horrendous data, Biden refused to take the blame. Instead, he argued that Americans simply “don’t feel” the positive impact of his accomplishments yet.
