People are divided on the topic of whether President Joe Biden is “mentally fit,” to serve, according to a recently conducted POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of registered voters.

The poll found that while 27% of registered voters strongly agree that he is mentally fit, 19% somewhat agree, 10% somewhat disagree, and 38% strongly disagree.

Those results show a significant shift since an October 2020 poll which found that 35% strongly agreed that Biden was mentally fit, while 21% somewhat agreed, 10% somewhat disagreed, and 25% strongly disagreed.

The recent poll conducted Nov. 13-15 of 2021 found that less than half of registered voters think that the president is “in good health.” While 14% strongly agree that his health is good, 26% somewhat agree, 15% somewhat disagree, and 35% strongly disagree.

Again, the findings represent a notable shift since the October 2020 poll which found that 27% strongly agreed Biden had good health, 26% somewhat agreed, 14% somewhat disagreed, and 20% strongly disagreed.

Earlier this year, the 78-year-old Biden became the oldest person ever sworn in to the office of President of the United States. He will turn 79 later this week and will be 82 by the time he completes his current term.

A recent Hill-HarrisX poll found that a majority of registered voters (61%) think Biden should make way for a different candidate in the 2024 election, while only 24% think he should run for re-election in 2024.

Biden’s political career on the national stage has spanned decades. He served more than 30 years in the U.S. Senate before serving as vice President for two terms alongside President Barack Obama.

“When you watch Biden, you get a sense that he’s just missing a beat, that he’s not what he once was,” Republican pollster Neil Newhouse said, according to Politico. “Voters are picking up on it.”
