More Republicans are calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to drop an election dispute in Iowa.
In a letter to Pelosi, Iowa’s Secretary of State Paul Pate urged her to reject any attempts to overturn the race.
My letter to Nancy Pelosi asking her to respect Iowa’s bipartisan election and recount process, State of Iowa law, and the official state certification of @RepMMM election as U.S. House representative for Iowa’s Second Congressional District. #IA02https://t.co/K87RUWF1PV pic.twitter.com/S2MeP2R70v

Pate noted Democrat Rita Hart approved of the recount procedures and results following her challenge. He also refuted Hart’s claims the state’s election laws weren’t followed to address her concerns. Pate believes her campaign should have explored other remedies, rather than getting the federal government involved.
His comments echoed those of the House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
.@RepMMM isn’t just doing great work for the people of #IA02 in Congress. As a doctor, she’s also helping administer vaccines back home.
The people of Iowa have spoken. She will serve out the term she rightfully won, despite Democrats’ attempt to retroactively steal the seat. pic.twitter.com/uoxccOZPWZ

“If you want a constitutional back, the states decide,” McCarthy stated. “If Nancy Pelosi wants to pull that game, to try to pick and choose who, she’s going against the voice of Iowa’s second district, and I think that’s wrong.”
McCarthy is in Iowa rallying for Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, while a House panel reviews the contested race for Iowa’s second district. Her legal team argued the Democrat-led challenge is unprincipled and dangerous.
