Texas Democrats Throwing Tantrum Over Election Integrity
Tout Their ‘Sacrifice’ As They Flee State In Private Jet 1

Texas Democrats throwing a tantrum over an election integrity bill are claiming their swift exit from the state on private jets was a “sacrifice” in their fight against “voter suppression” in the state.

“Just landed in Memphis on our way to DC. Thank y’all for your well wishes. We left behind our families, our livelihoods, & our beloved Texas. But our sacrifice is nothing compared to the sacrifices brave Americans have made throughout history to protect the sacred right to vote,” announced “proud progressive” state Rep. James Talarico on Twitter.

Talarico is one of the 50-plus Lone Star State Democrats who chose to flee the state on Monday evening in a last-ditch attempt to protest the GOP bill, which was reintroduced in a special session this week by Republicans who want more election security for mail-in ballots including voter ID.

Like many of his Democrat colleagues in the Texas House, Talarico says he opposes the bill because its “goal was very clear to prevent black voters from exercising their constitutional rights at the ballot box in Texas so Republicans could hold on to power.”

“This bill is masquerading as a lot of things, but the only goal of this piece of legislation is to make it harder for Texans to vote and to exercise their sacred constitutional rights,” he reiterated on “Rising” Tuesday morning.

Other legislators made similar claims, insisting they were fighting for the rights of voters targeted by the GOP.

“I am tired of sitting as a hostage in a Texas House of Representatives while Republicans strip away the rights of my constituents to vote,” Rep. Senfronia Thompson proudly stated after exiting the private jet.

The Democrats clearly see their quick abandonment of the special legislative session as noble and spent Monday and Tuesday lauding praises on each other over social media instead of showing up to Tuesday’s morning legislative activities in Austin.

“The Democrats in the Texas legislature get paid $7,200 per year. They have spouses, children, and homes they left behind when they came to Washington today. They’re putting their lives on hold to protect the voting rights of every American. They need Congress to do the same,” failed presidential candidate Julián Castro tweeted.

“It was wonderfully [sic] to randomly run into people who recognized me and applauded what we are doing,” one Democrat representing part of Houston commented before asking people to donate to him through ActBlue “as we continue to fight these draconian voter restrictions in Texas!”

“We’re exhausted,” another representative told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

The Biden administration openly praised the Democrats’ exodus and repeated the claim that the legislators are going to bat for the voiceless.

“I applaud them standing for the rights of all Americans and all Texans to express their voice through their vote, unencumbered,” Vice President Kamala Harris said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pointed out the irony of the Democrats’ touted mission to fight for those they say are oppressed by election integrity by flying on a private jet equipped with booze and plenty of selfie opportunities for their maskless mugs.

“Texas Democrats‘ decision to break a quorum of the #txlege inflicts harm on the Texans who elected them to serve. As they fly across the country on cushy private planes, they leave undone issues that can help their districts & our state. It’s time to get back to work,” Abbott tweeted.

Leftist legislators in Texas have long used fleeing as a tactic to avoid voting on Republican legislation with which they disagree. In 2003, Texas Democrats (in the minority in the state House for the first time), banded together to stage a largely performative walkout on the state’s legislative session to block the GOP’s redistricting proposal. The more than 50 legislators quickly bolted to Oklahoma in what then Gov. Rick Perry said was a “cowardly and childish” move.

Democrats on the national level have pushed for looser voting reforms for months, using talking points about fighting racism and oppression as shields for their true motives.

After the failure of H.R. 1, their biggest attempt to institutionalize the sloppiness of the 2020 election, Democrats began to protest state legislatures for taking election integrity into their own hands. Their fearmongering included claims the new voting laws were “racist” and ushered in a new era of “Jim Crow.”

Once again, the Biden administration happily latched onto these claims and even lied about legislation in Georgia and the implications it would have on Americans. The White House also flip-flopped numerous times on the Democrats’ campaign to boycott the state and encourage big business and sports events such as the all-star game hosted by the MLB to relocate.
