VICTORY: Texas Gov. Abbott Signs Voter Integrity Bill Into
Law, Ending Long Battle 1

It’s about time!

“Election integrity is now law in the state of Texas!” proudly exclaimed Texas Governor Greg Abbott as he held up the newly signed Senate Bill 1, a voting reform bill aimed at protecting the integrity of elections within the Great State of Texas. The law will repeal many of the voting measures and adjustments implemented in large cities amid the coronavirus pandemic and will provide further oversight and regulation to polling centers and the infamous mail in ballot system.

Many conservatives rightly believe that there was massive interference or incompetence in the 2020 Presidential Election, especially with mail in ballots. A noteworthy example comes as Big League Politics has recently reported that Wisconsin is believed to have lost track of an alarming 82,000 mail in ballots last election cycle. The news also comes as a delight to many after news of California’s Secretary of State’s Office has approved a scheme in which Californians will now be able to print their own ballots.

Senate Bill 1 provides relief to many Republican voters worried about the inevitability of Texas turning purple. According to Abbott, the law: “creates uniform statewide voting hours, maintains and expands voting access for registered voters that need assistance, prohibits drive-through voting, and enhances transparency by authorizing poll watchers to observe more aspects of the election process.”

The new law also threatens jailtime to election officials which send unsolicited mail in ballot applications to voters. Ballot harvesting will also be considered a 3rd degree felony. According to Abbott on Twitter, “it’s easier to vote and harder to cheat.”

The bill was originally supposed to pass all the way back in May, however, Texas Democrats fled the state in order to allow the legislature’s session to expire and prevent the bill from passing. Governor Abbott promised legal repercussions for the action but never followed through, angering many conservatives at his inaction. Although the Democrats whom abdicated the vote have since returned home to Texas without any consequences for their actions, many Texas Republicans are likely to at least be satisfied knowing that their elections are safe, for now.
