Youngkin’s Crowds Dwarfs McAuliffe’s on Eve of
Election 1

As the gubernatorial race in Virginia winds down to a dramatic finish, Politico says that only one side is showing momentum when it comes to crowd size.

“[GOP candidate Glenn] Youngkin’s [crowds] were large and rollicking, with many of the trappings of a MAGA rally — a similar dad rock playlist, hats and flags and T-shirts paying homage to the former president — but, to the great disappointment of Democrats, not Trump himself,” said Politico.

While Democrat Joe Biden won Virginia in the 2020 presidential election tilt by 10%, the latest polls by Real Clear Politics show Youngkin and Democrat Terry McAuliffe in a statistical dead-heat which, along with crowd size, could portend trouble for Democrats.

“Youngkin’s events in the final days of the campaign have been energetic, often sizable, affairs, with Republicans increasingly enthusiastic that they have a shot to win their first statewide race in Virginia in more than a decade,” said CNN.

As Politico noted, McAuliffe’s closing argument is almost entirely negative, hoping that Donald Trump will inject himself into the campaign and rally Democrats.

“Guess how Glenn Youngkin is finishing his campaign?” McAuliffe asked a crowd. “He is doing an event with Donald Trump here in Virginia.”

Politico called the assertion by McAuliffe a “lie”.

Fox News said that a Saturday event with Republican Youngkin drew 200 enthusiastic voters in Northern Virginia, a Democrat stronghold, while a Democrat event featuring former Governor Tim Kaine in Norfolk drew around 40 people.

Youngkin urged his voters to not be complacent and to get to the polls to vote saying “polls don’t win elections” according to Fox.

“This is about the values that Virginians hold dear,” Youngkin told reporters. “It’s about Virginians standing up for our new way forward.
