In a statement released via twitter, Caitlyn Jenner – who became an internationally famous athlete when competing in the Olympics as Bruce Jenner – announced a run for Governor of California, only days after reports indicated the former athlete is receiving help from former Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale.

I’m in! California is worth fighting for,” wrote Jenner on Twitter. In the press release, Jenner explains,”For the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people.”

“I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality.” Jenner added, “I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor.”

“Small businesses have been devastated because of the over-restrictive lockdown. An entire generation of children have lost a year of education and have been prevented from going back to school, participating in activities, or socializing with their friends,” Jenner was reported as saying.

According to the New York Post, Jenner gained the assistance of Parscale – who was arrested last year after an alleged domestic dispute with his wife in Florida, ultimately ending his time with the Trump campaign – earlier this month. “The former campaign manager began connecting the Olympian and reality television star with the right politicos for her team after she reached out asking for assistance,” wrote the Post, noting that a representative for Jenner did not respond to their request for comment.

Parscale famously received credit for helping President Donald Trump cross the finish line in 2016, having played a role in using data to help plan the President’s campaign schedule in the final days. When President Trump ran for reelection in 2024, Parscale was promoted to campaign manager, a position he kept until his arrest. Parscale was arrested after he allegedly threatened to take his own life during an argument with his wife that occurred while he was with his guns.

“While Jenner may have grand political ambitions, a source close to Parscale told The Post he was not interested in being campaign manager for a second time, though he could be asked to join the Jenner team as an adviser down the line,” the paper reported. Jenner made national headlines in 2015 after coming out as transgender and legally changing names to Caitlyn Marie Jenner.
