Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale is helping reality TV personality and Olympic gold medalist Bruce “Caitlyn” Jenner explore a run for California governor.

The New York Post, which broke the story Thursday afternoon, was informed by an unnamed source with knowledge of the matter. The source said that Parscale is helping Jenner “with staffing critical personnel.”

Parscale and Jenner have known each other personally for years, according to the Post‘s report, and it was Jenner who reached out to Parscale for help.

Parscale is ostensibly not interested in managing Jenner’s campaign in the event that (s)he runs, though he may “be asked to join the Jenner team as an adviser down the line.”

Jenner “came out” as transgender in 2015 and subsequently underwent reassignment surgery in January 2017. (S)he is a Republican, has “always been on the more conservative side,” and voted for Donald Trump in 2016. Throughout Trump’s presidency, however, Jenner criticized him for his stances on “transgender rights.”

“The reality is that the trans community is being relentlessly attacked by this president,” Jenner said in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.

As for Parscale, he presided over a poorly run Trump reelection campaign until Trump demoted him in mid-July 2020, whereupon Bill Stepien became campaign manager. Parscale also made headlines in September over some, uh, personal issues:

Former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale has been placed in a mental institution due to making suicide threats after a bizarre encounter with law enforcement.

Parscale’s wife reportedly called 911 on Sunday afternoon as her husband was reportedly behaving erratically. She said her husband was armed and threatening to kill himself. When police arrived, Parscale barricaded himself on the property.

After Parscale was finally subdued, he was transferred to Broward Health Medical Center. Under Florida law, individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others can be held for 72 hours for psychiatric evaluation.

“Brad Parscale is a member of our family and we all love him. We are ready to support him and his family in any way possible,” said President Trump’s Campaign Communications Director, Tim Murtaugh, in response to the incident.
