Iowa Teacher Complains About Being ‘Forced’ to Recite
Pledge, Banned from Teaching CRT 1

An Iowa teacher is under fire after she posted a video on social media in which she complained about being “forced” to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning and being banned from teaching Critical Race Theory to her students.

Megan Geha, a special education teacher at Des Moines East High School, blasted the recent law signed by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds banning the teaching of CRT ideologies in public schools. The law is “bulls–t,” said Geha.

“My governor has put into place some ridiculous legislation that many governors have put into place such as I can’t teach anything divisive, I can’t teach critical race theory, and I can’t teach about racial equity,” she said in the video.

“So, teachers, in the past we’ve been activists, and after this s–tshow of last year, we really need to stand up and do what’s right for our kids now” she continued. “This is a call to action. We need to stand up and fight for our kids, because this is bulls–t.”

In another video, Geha complained that Iowa requires public schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance during school.

“The other thing that my governor has mandated for next year is that every classroom—it’s mandatory that we all have an American flag, and it is mandatory that we all do the Pledge of Allegiance every morning,” she said. “You’re going to be hearing from me a lot next year.”

Geha also admitted she openly advertises her leftist beliefs through her classroom decor, which includes a Black Lives Matter flag and a LGBT flag.

She claimed these flags show her minority students that she is “using the privilege [she] was born with to fight for them.”
